CNPC Joins Hands with CATL to Comprehensively Promote the Strategy of "More Convenient to Power Up Than Fuel Up"

Wu Kai, Chief Scientist of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited（CATL）and winner of the 2023 European Inventor Award, recently admitted in an interview that CATL has achieved a battery capacity of 80% full in 10 minutes and will be put into use in some car models this year. This means that after a decade of rapid development, the charging infrastructure has officially entered the era of charging 2.0, represented by new technologies such as supercharging, fast swapping, and PV energy-storage charging and battery diagnosis. The goal is to achieve convenience in charging compared to refueling.

On July 13th, Sichuan Sales Company of China National Petroleum Corporation（CNPC）, Sichuan Contemporary（subsidiary of CATL）, and SUNNIC gathered in Chengdu, Sichuan to sign a tripartite strategic cooperation agreement. They will use the new model of light storage, charging, and inspection to assist Sichuan in building a clean energy demonstration province, allowing the general public to enjoy the dividends brought by green energy. At the same time, they will use a networked layout to lead the implementation of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals in the southwest region and the development of the new energy industry.

At the signing ceremony, Chen Qing, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan Sales Company of CNPC, expressed the necessity of using new energy to drive traditional energy. “We hope that the technology and services of Sichuan Contemporary and SUNNIC can participate more in the development and construction of new energy with CNPC, combine the advantages of three parties, and take root in Sichuan to form a green energy sustainable development model of PV, energy storage, EV charging and battery diagnosis, and then serve the whole country.

Zhu Yunfeng, General Manager of Sichuan Times, pointed out that "Sichuan Contemporary, together with CNPC and SUNNIC, will help all parties complement each other's advantages, jointly promote the integrated development of oil and gas, oil stations, and new energy, promote the development of Sichuan and even the whole country's source network, jointly define the upgrading of the next generation energy supplement network, and assist in the green transformation of the energy system.

Mr. Chen Shengwang, CEO of SUNNIC, stated that "SUNNIC relies on the research and operation base in Sichuan, collaborates with CNPC to jointly develop a network of storage-charging-battery diagnosis in Sichuan and Sichuan, innovates its layout, and radiates to the whole country." Mr. Chen Shengwang then introduced the world's first "Black Shark 600kW full-liquid-cooled storage and charging system" developed and put into use by SUNNIC, which can achieve 4C supercharging technology of "five minutes of charging, enabling a journey from Chendgu to Yibin", With the operation of the integrated smart energy system for storage, charging, and battery diagnosis, SUNNIC will better form a business chain of "upstream OEMs, midstream energy replenishment solutions, and downstream comprehensive energy replenishment stations", laying the foundation for the rapid evolution of the national new energy industry.

The reporter interviewed Mrs.Xu Na, a senior practitioner in the new energy industry, and she said that, “Ten years ago, we walked into a gas station just to refuel; ten years later, we walked into a gas station to super charge. We used our Chinese brand batteries, drove electric cars made in China, used the network built in China, and used our green electricity. The experience and service we enjoy are more convenient than current gasoline, which is the meaning of our current work.”
